In support of very diverse experiences such as recording, specific preparations with pianists on the biggest stages, confrontation with the problems of different repertoires and the maintenance of its own instruments, Régie Pianos created a workshop within Its premises to meet all the needs of optimization, repair and restoration of the instruments entrusted to it.
The piano from every angle.
It is in the workshop that magic operates. Disseminated at the four corners, spare parts, pots with strange contents, tools, a jointer ... On the ceiling, a "sky" collage with its hoist to manipulate heavy cast iron frames. Cabinetmaker, Sébastien Jouanne reigns over this workshop, assisted by other technicians as needed. Nothing escapes their high skill. Joinery, polishing, varnishing ... All the stages can be treated. Here, tables, easels, crates, boxes, chords, ankles, felt-tongs are restored and restored. All the work of the harmonic structure is realized, including the flipotage which consists of filling the possible cracks of the table with wood of the same essence . It was there that a unique model Pleyel rosewood, 2.68 m long and dated 1892, was restored to make it regain its splendor and its rare sound.
"The peculiarity of our workshop is that we treat even the oldest pianos in the idea that they should be played," says Cyril Mordant. Thus, while preserving their soul, we correct the original defects that the technicians of that time had not identified. This is what happened with the Pleyel of 1892, whose system of clamps fragilized the strings. Our strategy is not to make museum pieces but to match, to adapt to the current requirements of musicians, always in accordance with ancient techniques. The pianos must be useful and usable. "
A workshop open to all pianos owners.
If the workshop is dedicated to work on the instruments of the park managed by Régie Pianos, it is also open to pianos belonging to theaters and concert halls as well as to private individuals, with the same care and the same concern for A long experience.
